Hi MoM,

Relax buddy, you're fine! The most stressful time is the period from EOT until your confirmation viral load. You did very well throughout Tx and there's no reason to believe anything but the best. Your lab values are going to fluctuate regularly from any number of factors, environmental, dietary, and even stress. As you recover from the months of constant assault by the Tx drugs, your body goes through dozens of changes. Lab values rise and fall during Tx and as you return to a drug free system, those levels will readjust. Give yourself a break and let things settle down. Start by being thrilled that you have successfully completed Tx with an undetectable viral load. The chance of relapse at this point is low and that should be reason enough to celebrate! You've given your liver a tremendous break and its in a very happy place right now. Dispel the notion that something could be wrong and instead enjoy the good place and better health that you've fought so hard to achieve!! Again, relax you're going to do this!

Hi,  The rato between your ALT and AST will tell a lot, Your Sugar is more of a sign of relapse than blood count, If your sugar level spikes and keeps going up, Then it is time to consider relapse, If the differential between the ALT and AST stay the same, your probably OK. If one goes up or down independently of the other then it is time to worry. I would be asking my Doctor about my Spleen, and this is ware i suspect your problem is, Keep in mind I am not a Doctor and you need to be seeing one.

My plates are 52 and have been steady from low 60's to upper 40's for the last 8 months or so, 128 is low but not what any of my docs would find a huge concern knowing you have had HCV and some liver damage.

I guess there are 2 ways to look at it, if you did relapse which I'm doubting what would you do over the next three moths that would make a difference?also what is the wait time to retreat on that regimine?

So this is really anxiousness to find out a result that won't  give you the SVR anyway.....I know its the waiting that drives people crazy I felt the sa ne thing at EOT when the hep dr wasn't gonna do one so I pulled some strings with my liver dr. And got it done so it's easy for me to say wait when I didn't. ..geez Duane what a hypocrite. ...lol

Hi MOM:

There is no reason to conclude that you have relapsed.  Platelets and hgb levels can certainly vary without it signifying relapse. The only way to know for sure whether your VL remains UND, however, is to have a VL test.  I noticed that it has been >3 months since your EOT.   Perhaps your doc will order a VL test if you ask.   Is that a possibility?

I don't expect to ever achieve normal plats. They improved somewhat during treatment, but had fallen back to my normal 60k range well before finishing the meds. I wouldn't fret about it, MoM. Remember also that your count can jump around somewhat from test to test.

I treated during 2013 and achieved SVR, but a year later, my platelet level is 90,000 but my gastro still says I am cured from the hepc. I haven't had a relapse, so I think it might be normal to have lower than normal bloodwork for awhile following treatment. I wouldn't worry about relapse.

Dear All,

 

I had a cbc done today. Platelets have fallen to 1.23. They were at 1.48 two weeks ago on September 8th.

My treatment ended on June 17th. Two weeks after the treatment they were comfortably over 1.5.

 

I am wondering if this is a sign of relapse.  My Haemoglobin is also at a higher normal 15.7. Two weeks ago they were above 15 as well.

 

Hepatitis c is associated with higher haemoglobin in homodialysis patients according to reports. I did my last LFT a month and a half after end of treatment.

 

And I can do a viral load test only at the end of 24 weeks post treatment. Have I relapsed?
