Hi again, M-o-M, oh yes, I understand about the mental side effects, they can be the worst aspect to deal with and do take a while to recover from. 

I`m doing fine, thanks for asking.  I still have some ongoing health issues that predate my tx but on the whole I`m a lot better than before I cleared the Hep C virus!!

Physically I am absolutely fine. Its the mental side that takes a bit of a dip though.

How are you doing?

 

Thanks Big Pharma, is their a test for the syndrome. As jill and Tig advised, I will  maybe retest for bilrubin in a couple of months again. If it continues to be elevated, I will test for the syndrome. By the way, what test is it exactly?

Please pass Gilbert's syndrome test, its common to have and its not harmful at all.

 I have heterogenic Gilbert's syndrome (half-Gilbert)

Hello M-o-M, good to hear from you again!

It takes about 6 months for the full effects of ribavirin to clear from your system so it`s quite possible that it is still responsible for your elevated bilirubin count and I wouldn`t worry about it at the moment.  Give yourself some more time for you body to recover..and try not to read too much on the internet!!.  Your ALT and AST look fine, as Tig said.

How are you feeling now, post treatment?

One more question.

 

It has already been 4 months post treatment. Is it still possible for Ribavarin to elvate my bilrubin counts.

 

I am a bit of a hypochondriac. After looking on the internet I am worried if I have a blockage in my bile duct or liver.

Please advise.

Hi MoM,

Glad you dropped in! It's very common to experience high bilirubin levels as a result of Ribavirin. It's well known that it can take months for your body to recover from its effects during treatment. I wouldn't be concerned at this stage of your recovery. Your AST/ALT looks very good. I'm not aware of the HBV vaccine causing any test changes, outside of the presence of antibody formation, which is normal. I wouldn't be worried, it's going to take some time for things to get back to normal following 6 months of treatment. Keep in touch and let us know how you're doing! Good luck...

Dear All,

How are you all doing? Hope you are all fine. I took my LFT today. My Peginterferon/ Ribavarin treatment for GT 3 was over on 17th June 014.

 

My bilrubin is high, AST and ALT are normal. What does this imply? I had taken Hepatitis B vaccine exactly a month back. Can that be the cause of the increased level of bilrubin?

 

SPARTATE AMINOTRANSFERASE (AST/SGOT) 23 15 - 37 U/L

 

BILIRUBIN, TOTAL, SERUM BILIRUBIN, TOTAL 1.70 High 0.00 - 1.00 mg/dL

AMINOTRANSFERASE (ALT/SGPT) 49 30 - 65 U/L

 

 

Please advise.
