Hi Matt, not any certain food.  Coffee is always a no no for me.  I have been eating blander than normal.  I want Chipotle!  But that will wait.  Cream of Wheat was my lovely dinner last night while the family had Italian Sausage on the grill.  I didn't dare eat that.  Eggs, toast all the boring stuff.  It seems to be just eating in general causing it.  I have had sinus stuff for years and always have reflux type stuff with it from the post nasal drip.  I know that is not helping me here.  Didn't ever have it last a month but then again I never went through treatment before.  I know Harvoni was a breeze for many but I have had problems.  I never told you guys that my toe nail fell off during treatment.  It appears I got a toe nail fungus, or maybe had it and never knew, it looked normal.  But about a month into the treatment it started to thicken and hurt.  It turned white one day and then crumbled off within a day or so of that.  I am using some topical stuff but I know that don't work.  I have no option since the oral treatment is very liver unfriendly.  Won't even go there.

I have a history of gastritis for over 10 years now.  I believe it was the start of probably some Hep C symptoms that we didn't pick up on.  Because it would return almost once a year in the fall and I would go back on Zantac for months.  During treatment was really the first time I had a normal stomach!  I could even drink coffee.  Something I miss so much.  I do keep active and I work.  I hike over 2 miles most days too.  So it's not that I am bed ridden and home.  I am also dealing with a contant sinus thing with runny nose, pressure and scratchy throat with cough for near a month now.  It's helping the situation.  I just left a message for the doctor to call or his nurse.  She won't let anyone talk to him directly!  They don't have an apt open for a month.  That won't work, so hopefully a phone call will.  I could see my primary easily but she is open about not having a clue about Harvoni or Hep C hence the reason she referred me out.  So I feel like it might be a waste of money to go to her about all this.  I guess I will have to give it time.  Hopefully the doctor will order a blood test at least.  Or get me in sooner to see him.

Hey FL

Sorry to read about your gastric issues, is it all foods or certain food groups?

As far as waiting 12 weeks for viral load test IMO its to long, your treatment was only 8 weeks. Ask / strongly request your doctor to test you for viral load at EOT 4 weeks. Sometimes actually talking or having them call you is hard to accomplish so email or write them a letter with your firm request, you deserve to know.

Hi FL,

I'm going into my 8th week since EOT now and it has only been 1-2 weeks since I began to feel better. I was on Sovaldi/Olysio and was terribly sick with nausea throughout most of my treatment but made it with the help of Zofran. Anyway, about 2 weeks after EOT I started feeling terribly nauseous again (I'd had a break from the nausea the last couple of weeks of tx) and fatigued but a couple of weeks ago, would have been 6 weeks after EOT, I started to feel normal and now have been off of the Omeprazole for over a week. No nausea at all. It was just gone one day. Wah lah! Or, wa la!

So, wouldn't you know it, I woke up with a horrific head cold yesterday. Ugh. The thing is it will pass and hopefully the arthritic stuff that is worse than ever will go away also. The only thing I know that may have helped was I forced myself to get out and walk each day. I'm up to about 8 blocks now. There is light out there and hopefully the nausea will soon pass for you also. Take care.

Hi FL,

I'm sorry you're having these stomach issues, but believe in time that will diminish and return you to your pre-treatment happy stomach. We all experienced some sort of side effect from the protocol we were on and it took us all a fair amount of time to recover. These drugs are powerful and they do a whammy on everything! It may take a few weeks or few months to start feeling better. Hold on, better days are ahead.

I'm including a brief blurb from the Harvoni Monograph that points out that during the ION trials, people were experiencing the same issues. So you aren't alone in this and I want you to feel positive that this will improve soon enough. Hang in there!

I was on a different tx. But noticed certain side effects got worse after tx. Consulting your doctor is always good though I avoiding mine who wasn't very personable either. How long has it been since you started with the really bad gastric issues? If it's been awhile I would follow up as soon as possible. As for labs, ask your doctor since he or she would need to order them. I think the scariest part for me was waiting for my EOT 6 mos tests. If you were UND after your 8 weeks it's a good sign. Try to keep a positive outlook. These are allowner full drugs and it may take some time to get over the side effects after tx. Good luck

I have been on 300mg Zantac for my heartburn since two days after I stopped Harvoni.   I am still suffering here.  Sleeping very well, better than ever.  Achy still but different than before treatment.  It's better for sure than it was.  My foot issues if you all recall that... are gone!  Whew that was a relief as well.  But my gut...... it is bad.  Everything I eat by mid day bothers me.  I guess it's obvious I should see the gastro who treated me!  I called in with this and they had me at the ER within an hour to get checked out for my heart.  All was fine and I was put on the Zantac but I am not better.  They did say to increase to 450mg if I didn't find relief.  I can't understand how I went from no stomach problems on Harvoni and once I stopped it my stomach acids went haywire.  It's weird isn't it?  And I have liver area pain often as well.  Just wanted to check in.  Nervous as heck about waiting for my 12 week EOT blood work.  With several people relapsing on the 8 week treatment so far, I am concerned to say the least!  Dare I ask them to run a test now because I am worried?  They aren't the nicest people to deal with.  Hence the reason I have avoided seeing them again for this issue.
