I appreciate you all & the encouragement. I'm just scared. I will certainly take all of the advice to heart, hydrate, & even juice if it means less side effects.

HI Jen,  I am new to the forum as well and we have genotype 2 in common.  I will be taking the same meds as you but also daclatasvir as well, once my pharmacy gets through the red tape and can order them.   I see that you also had the intereferon treatment with ribavirin and had headache problems.   I remember that very well.   Some of the patients I've talked with locally have indicated the combination of ribavirin and solvaldi is not at all like the combination with peg interferon and easier to endure. These meds have a whole list of side effects, but that doesn't mean you will get any - or all of them.  The most important thing is drinking lots of water, moisturising your skin to prevent itch,  and eating well.  I make a smoothie every morning with fresh broccoli, apples, ginger, carrots etc. and throw in a beat root to get a cool color.  You actually drink broccoli and taste apple.    This ensures you will get lots of the nutrition your body needs to best sustain the meds.   Good luck with your treatment and here's to your happy ending ; j

Hi,

I think you will be fine as it is only 12 weeks, just drink plenty of water. I noticed the side effects didn't really kick in until the 14th week with me.Stay close to this forum there are a lot of good people here.

HI again Jen,

Thanks for introducing yourself here and letting us know that you`re Genotype 2, which explains why you`ll be doing Sovaldi and ribavirin.  A lot of our members have Gen 1, which is the most common of the genotypes in the U.S, but we do have people here who have experience of the same drug combo as you`ll be doing. 

The most common side effects with this treatment are fatigue and headaches, but the important thing is to make sure to keep yourself well hydrated by drinking plenty of water, that will help a lot.  I`m sure you`ll find this time will be a lot easier for you without the interferon shots, and you`ll only be doing 12 weeks this time too. 

You`re still young compared to a lot of us here, and have a lot to look forward to once this is all over!  All the best of luck...  smile

Hi all,

I was hoping some of you could tell me how bad the side effects were/are for you. I did the whole interferon thing 5 years ago (with Ribavirin) & that was awful. I had a migraine the entire time. Im very sensitive to side effects, so please if you all could tell me what to expect I'd appreciate it. I'm currently in grad school & praying this treatment will not effect my studies.
